Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is a Public Limited Company which was incorporated on 26th March 2001. The Company operates under policy guidance of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
UETCL is one of the three successor companies created as a result of the unbundling of Uganda Electricity Board (UEB). It is owned by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
It has the operational mandates divided into Single buyer , Transmission system operator and Public Infrastructure provider. The Company undertakes bulk power purchases and sales, import and export of energy, operation of the High Voltage Transmission Grid and provision of optical fiber.
